i'll go with other posters who've confirmed the original is fine. it's strange
there are also so many unnecessary repacks, have you noticed?

hooray that the other one isn't too bad, because i'm nearly 70% into it and
nearing the cap of my data limit for the month. i'd really rather not have to
ditch ~250mb over something minor.

too many repacks these days.... perhaps have somebody watch the
encode before
posting it??? 1/100 releases needing a repack is understandable... its not that
hard for somebody to watch 45mins of tv... and they dont even need to be
talented.. the only requirements.. eyes and a brain... you can say one blink to
release it two blinks to encode again

dont expect capper to watch each show before and after encoding. they may
actually hate the show or have something else to do.
the increased ammount of repacks is due to some silly quality standards, like
1seconds of commercial at end, 5seconds out of sync etc.

god, i hate data caps. i'd rather have half the download speed and no cap than
12mb per second but have a data cap. but that's just me.

as for the smaller files vs. the larger hd files, i find little visual
difference on my 47 inch plasma screen between watching an hd program off the
air and watching the 350mb file, provided it was converted from the hd feed and
encoded correctly. the only way i notice a difference is if i run the signals
through an analyzer (and there is a helluva difference on that level).

since so many series are coming out on dvd during their hiatus or, now that
everyone has decided to join the "battlestar galactica" school of pain in the
a*s*s scheduling, the first half of the season in early fall and the second half
in late spring, i only need to keep the off-network episodes until those come
out on bluray, so 350mb is fine with me. the only way i'd want to make certain
i had 720p or 1080i copies would be if you had a series like, for example, "wkrp
in cincinnati". a lot of the rock music had to be changed just for the
syndication run, let alone the home video / dvd release. i'd love to have nice
archive copies of the network version of those episodes. since most series are
pre-planning their worldwide exploitation in the initial pitch meetings, the
problem with music doesn't come up much any more but it *does* come up as do
rights issues with certain celebrity images or something running on a television
in the background. as gilda radner used to say every week on snl, "it's always
one damn thing after another".

wow. you don't deserve to own a 47" plasma.

i hate that, this listing must have shown up very shortly after i started
downloading the first one, by the time i came back to the pc and noticed, it
was done downloading...

original better not be that bad, with so many of my favorite shows now on, i
just don't have the bandwidth to spare this month...
[#105422] Written by: thebishop74 [23/09/2008, 08:16]

ok, i'm totally confused, just finished watching the first rip, did not notice
a single thing wrong with it, heroes had more sync issues and no proper or
repack yet, so i have no idea what was wrong with the first rip.
[#105427] Written by: Trent [23/09/2008, 08:58]
when i checked both versions were already out, so of course i chose the repack
over the first version - however the repack seems to be shared very badly, it
barely downloads. since there was so little wrong with the first, few people
seem to bother with the repack. it makes me considering trashing the repack and
downloading the first release instead, so i don't have to wait for several hours
more until it's done...

"as for the smaller files vs. the larger hd files, i find little visual
difference on my 47 inch plasma screen"

i've said it before, and i'm gonna say it again, in absolute seriousness: if you
can't tell the visual difference between the 350mb "less than sd" rips and the
1100mb 720p rips then you really need to get your eyes checked, period! the
720p versions have literally *four times* the number of pixels in them. there
is so much more detail there is just no comparison. hd wins hands down!

if you can't tell the difference between them, i'm guessing you also can't read
the title of a movie or show on the side (yes, the *side*, not the front) of a
dvd box placed next to your stated 47" plasma, when you are sitting in your
normal viewing position. (and your plasma *is* hd, isn't it? if not then it's
no wonder you can't tell the difference - in that case try them on your pc
running in 1280x960 or better to see the difference.)

my advice, get your eyes checked - you might be surprised at just how much
you've been missing!

now, i feel sorry for all those who have a capped connection, but not for this
idiot.
i mean how moronic do you have to be to start downloading the minute something
shows up here and then complain about your bandwidth cap?
just wait a day (or two). how difficult is that to understand?

part of the flashback seemed to be slightly out of sync. i assumed it was simply
the cutting of some frames for broadcast. the rest of the file was fine. i
didn't notice anything and i too normally would. of course, i've pretty much
learned to ignore it.

jesus gaspah, even in canada, $150aud is enough for a 1000gb hard drive, half of
that will get you a new 500 even

that is like a kid reaching his birthday, then being told he can't open his
presents for two days...

people always say wait, but how many times has something been shyte, and a
proper has never shown up?, multiple times on many shows you have had threads
full of people saying how bad the rip is, so you wait 2-3 days, and there is no
proper.

other times you troll the threads looking for bad quality comments, find
nothing in like 5+ pages so start downloading, only to have a proper show up
after your done.

there is much not to like about the scene...

vi76,

it's not difficult to understand at all. however, my data limit resets on the
first of october, and i didn't particularly want to wait a week to commence
downloading the next episode. i average about 10k/s on my cable connection,
unfortunately, so even when i start downloading a tv show immediately i usually
don't get to watch it until about a day or two later anyway. if i waited to see
if a "correct" version showed up, i'd be waiting about four or five days to
watch it. i like the shows i like to watch, obviously. i'd like to watch them
sooner, rather than later, and therefore i prioritise what i download so that i
can do just that. if i spend x megabytes downloading something, and then have
to spend x megabytes downloading it all over again because it wasn't encoded
right, i now have 2x megabytes fewer to use downloading other shows. that's
annoying, especially when i'm running out of my allowance. how hard is
that to understand?

let me put it simply for you, so you can keep up: i didn't want to wait a week,
or even a day or two, but i also didn't want to download an episode only to find
that it was badly out of sync and that i'd need to download it all over again.
again, how hard is that to understand?

and yes, i understand that what you're suggesting is that i wait a day or two to
see if a proper or repack shows up, to ensure that i get a problem-free episode.
again, i'm merely eager to see the next episode of something, and thus am
starting a download as soon as i can manage it. i usually wait around an hour
after release anyway, to see if anyone's said that it's rubbish. as was
mentioned above (by thebishop74), sometimes you can wait several days and not
see any repacks until you go to download the episode that's been sitting there
forever, or sometimes you just end up getting what's been sitting there for days
and it's still rubbish, with no repack.

sit there and call me a moron and an idiot if you like, but it was a reasonable
comment, one of relief that the first release wasn't unwatchable (since i'd
already downloaded most of it), and not
flaming anyone (something you seem incapable of doing).

besides, i hardly either want or need you to feel sorry for me.

is a repack just a better version of the original ( no ads. no minor problem )

and a proper is one where they have fixed a serious error( missing show time.
out of sync audio )

there seem to be too many re-releases latley can i get the difference between
a proper and a repack please
