hi guys, i know since kidnapped and vanished finished some of you were capping
the versions of the web via the streaming video, i'm looking to do a similar
thing for where i work but we dont know which is the best software to use.

can anyone give me a heads up on what is the best software available, whether
its simple or complex to use isnt important, just that its relatively cheap
software and that it works!

muchos appreciation to anyone who can help!!!

will this allow me to save the video stream to my hard drive as an avi file or
other similar video format?

i recently found hypercam. i don't think it's suitable for ripping episodes (or
long video files) but works great if you want to save small clips.

cheers , i tried the first one, from speedbit, and that managed to dload the
file i needed as it happens, but wouldnt work on saving video from the bbc
website or from youtube, it just opened up ie and redirected to the same url i
had entered to be dloaded. i'll try hypercam, see how that goes, but if anyone
can add some more names of software i can try out, and any benefits/snags
involved.

cheers guys, i knew this would be the best place to come for this,

heres my two cents

this is how to download the videos on sites like youtube and google video (which
will probably be one and the same soon.) and convert them to a usable format

step 1. finding the embedded file

use a program called urlsnooper to find the real location of the video file
(it's an flv file) drop the address into your download manager (or create a link
to it in a html file and right click > save as) and the flv file is yours to keep.

step 2. converting the file (this way works, but i'm sure theres a better way)

using a program called reva flv encoder (which also works as a decoder) change
the file to a .avi file, then process with your video converter of choice (i
prefer binks and smacker)

and roberts your mothers brother. a lovely .avi ready to burn

there also is videodownloader . net

it's a easy to use firefox plugin to dl the .flv, but you can also do it
directly via their website...
