yes, character names, powers etc. have been changed.
not completely different, it's still the us version of the same show.

definitely not holding any hope that this'll surpass or even equal the bbc3 series but it may still be
entertaining. of course, it could also be a steaming pile of broadcast-excrement.

syfy has made some really bad decisions lately. their network is becoming garbage. ending stargate
universe, caprica (which was bad but really made up for it in the end actually) but leaving ghost
hunters and other worthless shows like treasure hunters, wearhouse 13, eureka, etc. it all really
makes me scratch my head. the only good show left on syfy now is sanctuary.

as expected not nearly as good as the bbc's version but while that is not on (and if they change the
story line at all) i'll probably watch it. all they had to do was to base it off the original and alter
characters, plot lines and it would be more interesting. so far only slight changes seem to separate it
from the original. also silly place to end the episode of a premiere. when is the next one .. i'll have a
look now.

i don't think there was a "slight" change from the british version - there was a hugh change!! first
of all, the mood was much more serious. the pace was slow and tedious. the actors were mediocre
(aidan barely showed any expression in his face). josh was not even likable!! sally was better off
being forgotten! i did not care one bit about these characters. total rubbish.
