hi guys,

firstly thankyou to everybody for the hard work in ripping tv shows. recently
i\'ve noticed quite a few shows are being ripped in both 350 and 700mb. i\'ve
got a hd televison and hdmi dvd player but for some reason when i try to burn
the 700meg shows onto dvd\'s i get an error message telling me the resolution
is not supported (the sound still works though). if anybody has had similar
experiences and/or knows a possible fix your advice would be greatly
appreciated. thanks in advance!

hmmmmmm

on your hdtv you should either have a dvi input or vga input. so just hookup
your computer to your hdtv directly using your hdtv just like a computer
monitor and play them that way in full screen mode. you'll get the full
resolution of the shows. after that you can even download the 720p versions
and get the full res the show was aired in, or close to it.

if you dont have a dvi input or vga input then... you can use the hdmi input.
they sell little dongles that will convert that hdmi input into a dvi input.

having an hdmi port on your dvd player does not mean it will play the hr 700mb
files.... hdmi usually only means that the player does dvd-upconversion..

contrary to most people here, there really are divx set-top boxes on the
market that support the hr files... it is according to the chipset that the box
was designed with, as to whether it plays that high of resolution....

here is a discussion about the chipset:
h**p://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=84003

and a list of those players that have that correct chipset for hr support:

the zensonic z500 player is getting great reviews all over the net, and it seems
to be more widely available to locate and buy than the others..
plus the z500 puts all other dvd players to shame in other categories besides
just the hd divx playback... it's an amazing machine.
