nudity and doggy style in an effort to be "shocking" is starting to become
mundane. and it started
off so well. i was hoping this show would be more cerebral. disappointed. it's also a bit plodding.

this is how it is written in the book, so it's quite natural that they do it that way..
and it's hbo, they do things to make the best possible television, not the be "shocking" or to
display a "political statement".

thanks for the upload.

btw, i've never read the book and as a bystander i would say this serie intrigues me and will continue
watching it.

for the others who are complaining: damn man, it's a tv-serie with an actual plotline brewing.
introduction of the main characters, the drama, political scheme and the backstab were all there and
should have been enough to spark some of your interest. if not then don't follow it next week.

but seeing your first line, i bet you stopped at those scenes and wanting for more. then porn is your
favorite genre, cause there was more to see in this ~60 min first episode then just that. otherwise i
don't know what you've been watching or this is just not the serie for you.

my mate and i were very disappointed in "game of thrones." the acting is very good, the
cinematography is spectacular, but the show left a very bad taste in our mouths. quite frankly, we
found the show very distasteful - and we're not talking about the nudity.

i don't know what to think. .... we'll give episode 2 a go, but so far "the borgias" seems far superior.

respectfully, judging a show after a single episode is extremely short sighted. especially with this.

as one who has read the first four books of the series (and eagerly awaiting the fifth book in
july), i can inform you things get a hell of a lot more interesting.

i can only suggest you be patient.

also, the nudity and sex scenes weren't thrown in for the sake of it just to shock for shocks value.
that's in the original source material itself. so all it's doing is being faithful to what george r.
r. martin originally wrote.

hmm... seems like a misunderstanding (in some responses, not all).

what i mean is, i don't want the nudity and sex scenes. it seems totally gratuitous on the part of
hbo. i just wish hbo would concentrate on story and characterisation in its programmes instead of
throwing in rampant shagging, tits and ass at every turn.

i must admit though, i haven't read the books. i read the preview thingies here and it sounded like an
interesting series.

ok, i'll shut up now.

if you had read the books you would know how central it is to the plot. it might seem
gratuitous right now, but then so did rome at times.

it was necessary for the introduction of
tyrion and the lannister twins most especially, as this element is central to their characters
actions and motivations.

in terms of political intrigue and backstabbing (and fucking venomous characters), this
series is completely unparalleled. it will just
take time to get into it.

but as any reader of the books will tell you, it's like nothing else out there.

i have read the books and they are some of my favorite. i can say i was a little disapointed. there was
some changes in the show that i dont know why they did. for example why did cat act like she did not
want ned going to kings landing. in the story (as his wife she didnt want him to go) she advised him
that he should go and getting the letter from her sister helped her re-inforce the idea that ned should
go to be roberts hand.

i dont mind shows living some stuff out (i get this they cant put all the material in) but i cant stand
when they change it.

other then that though the character development is spot on so far, i do see a lack of envolvment of
the wolfs though, dont know why that is (ghost was compltely left out of the scene with tyrion and jon).

these are my thoughts dont know if they matter!

if book fans watch a series that is exactly like the books, it gets boring because they know exactly
what's coming. if it deviates, many complain that it doesn't follow the books.

taking this purely as a tv series, i enjoyed it. that said, not a lot happened if you think about
it. still, it's a first episode, they have to introduce people and lay the foundations etc. it was
definitely enough to make me want to see more.

take camelot for example. we all know the story, but they've mixed it up a little bit, and i like
what they've done with it, even if i wasn't all that impressed with a goofy, childish arthur.

great first episode! it moved right along!

yeah, yeah, some are above nudity some are true to the book, what i really want to know is what did
they find in the snow in the forest at the beginning. the guy said "it's..." then lady gaga starts
all kinds of mischief. is it a men sausage or what?

i'd say it's an ok first episode. i've read the books so i know it follows the story quite
faithfully... and maybe that's the problem.
because imho good book-to-movie adaptations (or series for that matter) remain truthful to the story
and try to deliver the emotions and pace that someone reading the book would experience.
however, great book-to-movie adaptations (same as above) push the envelope even further without
compromising the integrity of the global plot.

it has been done with lotr, harry potter, etc etc etc... because great directors know that excessive
narration can be a buzzkill, so they take a little liberty with the original script without ruining
it ofc. that's why it's called an adaptation and not a copy.

this first episode could have been more intense, could have delivered more action... the cliffhanger
at the end isn't enough, for me, to really get hyped for the next episode (i already know what's
going to happen ofc) but even if i didn't i wouldn't be that excited.

i'll agree to good acting, good adaptation (not great)... but poor directing.

however i will certainly follow the next 2 episodes and see if with what's coming they'll spruce it
up a bit.

game of thrones renewed for season 2 -

following strong critical and viewer response to the series

i dont know how i feel about making all main characters much older than in books, but i understand
having 13year old daenerys taken by drogo would be quite unacceptable... but it is important for the
story that john/robb/danny are 14/13 year old. it explains a lot of their actions.

and the ending of ep1 wasnt great, queen should be the cruel twin.

but overall i enjoyed it, for good and bad its close to book (that means starts slow ;p)
