in the rss tutorial it says to check "use url as referrer", but according to: http ://tvrss.net/forums/viewtopic.php?id=9 you should uncheck it. should it be checked for eztv's own feed assuming it works again sometime? also, does anyone know what bt-chat setting should be? |

good point. it only really has an effect on torrents sourced from mininova - looks like they have turned on /get/ to /tor/ redirection again. (an anti `hotlinking` measure) it must have been off for some reason when i wrote that section of the doc because it worked - i'll update it. in general usage it's `good manners` to have referrer turned on, because it lets the feed owners see where the hits are coming from. however, mostly because of hotlinking abuse, some high volume sites have disabled external direct link downloads. in mininova's case, yes, leave "use url as referrer" unchecked, so that it sends no referrer at all. if they get even more harsh with the redirection, enter h_tp://www.mininova.org/today/ as custom referrer. if/when the eztvefnet feed comes back i'll have to check - before it went offline there were 2 separate feeds for redundancy - one using bt-chat links, one using mininova. bt-chat ones should be unaffected because they use self-hosted .torrent files. |
