wasn't this posted ages ago?

sci-fi channel shows like eureka (returning in mid july in usa and august in
uk), stargate sg-1, stargate atlantis, battlestar galactica, dresden files...
all air in sd widescreen at about 360i. mean while skyone picks up these shows and
airs then in 1080i/p
so even though they are both re-encoded to the same resolution and file size,
the quality of the rips from the 1080i/p source come out looking much better.
eureka was a great example of even ws.dsr vs ws.pdtv

pdtv - h**p://img138.imageshack.us/img138/9092/fullpdtvos3.jpg
and mean while hdtv 350mb re-encode looks slightly better then pdtv

i understand the hdtv, but wasn't 18 just posted? how come 19 came out so soon?

last week 17 and 18 aired on the same day but nobody captured 18 so it re-aired
recently and was captured and re-encoded then
mean while today 19 and 20 aired. but they were expecting 2 episodes this week
and captured both

fantastic post!
i've tried to explain this numerous times, but nothing does it as well as two
screenshots such as you've provided. thanks

well sdtv ntsc 480i and sdtv pal 576i may have the pixels stated above. but the
show is also letterbox 16:9 on sci-fi channel so in comparison with the hd
source its more like only 230,000 (640x360) sdtv ntsc 16:9 crop 480i (which is
why i've just passed it off as 360i in the past) so 720p had 4 times more and
1080i has 4.5 or 9 times more pixels depending on whether its fully interlaced
or telecined like this show is.
