it's back online and this is the homepage msg: >>>>> "still working on this just got back online please restart your bittorrent client! more later edit: we are getting thousands of new visitors which is causing the servers to overload. we are disabling a few of the site features to help the situation, but we'll probably need to order faster hardware, so it might be a few days until everything resolves." |

for now, it seems that demoniod is still fighting! now these headlines will give you some info on what's going on. however, i have found no news articles that give the whole story (what else is new...) there are articles that report that the netherlands are being blocked but, i'm in canada and still couldn't get through. using an american proxy solves the problem, though i don't yet understand why. if you need access to your demonoid account simply use one of the american proxies at http://www.samair.ru/proxy/fresh-proxy-list.htm cheers. # update: demonoid will be taken offline by brein afterdawn.com - 12 jul 2007 http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/10383.cfm it seems brein has won their battle against demonoid although the victory is very limited. today, brein announced that leaseweb has agreed to reveal the identity of the owner of demonoid as well as take the site offline, this time for good. **however, demonoid has been preparing for the move and last week transferred their domain to canada, so they will not be going offline, at least for the time being. they are also out of the jurisdiction of brein now, but the owner's revealed identity may prove damaging. ** # leaseweb reveals demonoid.com's owner slyck, ny - 11 jul 2007 http://www.slyck.com/story1533_leaseweb_reveals_demonoidcoms_owner in a bitter battle of wills between leaseweb and the dutch copyright authority brein, it appears that brein has won. brein announced today that leaseweb has agreed to divulge the identity of the registered owner of demonoid.com, as well as sign the cease and desist demand which would take the site offline. according to brein, it appears the leaseweb waited to the bitter end before divulging demonoid.com's owner. additionally, and perhaps most importantly, leaseweb also divulged the banking information of demonoid.com's owner. # demonoid returns slyck, ny - 4 jul 2007 http://www.slyck.com/story1524_demonoid_returns the private/semi-private/occasionally-open-registration bittorrent tracker demonoid has returned, albeit at a slightly deteriorated state. under attack from the dutch copyright traffic cop brein since last month, the site was forced offline in late june. more specifically, brein targeted demonoid's web host, the dutch based web hosing company leaseweb. brein filed a legal complaint against the company, attempting to force leaseweb to disable the site and divulge the identity of the owner. brein won the case, however leaseweb has yet to divulge the owner's identity pending an appeal. |

bear in mind that the website *always* went down on friday mornings for scheduled system maintenance - it may just have been the regular procedure in action. |

demoniod seems fine now. i just logged-on without an american proxy. however, the site doesn't post any news about it. just business as usual i guess. |
