british sky broadcasting i looked into a little more and it looks like sky broadband/anytime etc is basically a backdoor p2p network eating into peoples without them actually knowing if your in the uk and thinking of signing up think again "kontiki based p2p sharing eating your cap. just like bbc iplayer, similer drm, similar tech, similar rip off of your bandwidth if you only watch the odd show." |

thanks for the info (beolight). if you see this post again could you give us a bit more on the sky/broadband p2p backdoor (kontiki). we where thinking of changing form aol to sky. i would like to find out as much as i can before changing over. the internet is a good place to find out things but i find i don't get very far before i get side tracked from the thing i was looking for so any info you drop in here for us would be grate and may be just what i need to ether change or stay with aol. bye for now (si)(uk) :-) |

stick with your current provider or find a better one not sky sky bb will eat into your bandwidth from day one and even when you are connected to internet it will be using your bandwidth with your permission it will slow your sytem down big time as who reads the small print? you know how p2p works you dl and you reseed and when you give back as much as you take or a bit more you disconnect, well this(kontiki) embeds itself into your system and keeps on going you think you have disconnected but you havent and to make sure of this with sky anytime(i.e not sky broadband) you cant view any downloads until 100% is downloaded and of course the whole time your downloading you are also sharing your connection even when you uninstall sky anytime you dont remove kontiki this requires a seperate removal tool and some registery tweaking/repairs |
