hi, i keep getting this offer for an upgrade to divx 6.6 says decoder is up to
12% faster than previous versions for smoother better quality hd play back,
just says everything is faster and better, is this safe to upgrade? thanx

if in doubt, you should update your codecs from the source you originally
dowloaded them from. if you download the latest version from the vendor's site
you're going to generally be ok.

just go with xvid (xvid > divx) or play in vlc
also when that thing is talking about hd playback it means real 1280x720
divx/xvid video not 624x352 or 960x544 files
i haven't seen a 1.36gb or 1.43gb 720p xvid in quite some time due to x264 being
superior than xvid
