can they recover from the serve they received from today tonight? the public
can be very unforgiving about these things ... but then they can also be quite
ignorant too.

chances are people that watch the chaser are the people that do not watch 'today
tonight'

yeah, because tt is such an authority! who couldn't respect tt? wouldn't have
been spite from tt because they and aca are constantly - legitimately - copping
it from the chaser?

actually, i thought the whole tit for tat scenario between the two shows was a
fab extension of the chaser series. i mean tt and aca arent going to continue
running puff pieces about the chaser boys if they get the chance to catch em
out are they? the boys confirmed the tt story was legitimate in regards to
otherwise illegal stunts, and in true chaser style, made a mockery and laughed
along with the rest of us.

to tell you the truth, as a weekly fan of the chaser, im hoping that the tt
story will prompt the lads to return wholeheartedly to their original ambush
comedy format cause it was so much funnier (just look at season 1)- i mean
getting mundine in on a setup joke with the fatwa was one thing (their original
fatwa story was the real deal and the mundine skit was blatantly obvious and
simply played on that) but i could not see the point or comedy behind a fake
pool party or a whole skit about a doctor dog - i dont watch the chaser for
lame sketch comedy - i'd rather watch "little britain" for that.

to some degree i dont mind the occasional setup - depending on the point of the
stunt. for example, i can accept the shocked reaction of a pompous audience at
the opera house as the point of the joke, and dont really mind that they had
previous authorisation from the staff to do it. having said that, the stunt was
not illegal and i think that in the past they would have performed it without
prior approval and filmed themselves being thrown out - so have the chaser boys
lost their balls?

their job is not an easy one now. lets face it, they are not a suttle bunch
and their faces are recognised almost everywhere they try something. there
would be difficulties getting past security, or pulling practical jokes on the
public when so many people know what they're about now and no longer fall into
their traps. i really enjoy the show, but perhaps it has reached it's peak?
much like borat or michael's moore's awful truth - people recognise them now
and there is little that can be done to become anonymous again. to some degree
anonymity is what these type of shows initially thrive upon and the inevitable
fame impacts how much they can get away with. eventually, noones gonna stand
there and be a patsy to someones stunt when they know otherwise. that's the
awful truth of successful ambush comedy television programs - dont excuse the
pun.

i'm not sure that i like the new mystery of whether a chaser stunt is real or
not. regardless, i am addicted and will reserve my judgement til i see the rest
of season 2. and hey, theres nothing more original than federal election
coverage by the chaser team - i hope "the chaser decides" returns again this
year.
