i laughed out loud and spontaneously applauded as i watched it last night. it
was a brilliant piece of satire with a verse carefully crafted to offend almost
every easily offended demographic in australia. sports nuts, royalists,
traditionalists, nationalists, etc, etc. all the while making a perfectly valid
point with real facts (di did have a procession of lovers, zemanic often made
racist comments, irwin did feed a crocodile with his baby, belinda emmett died
too recently to joke about).
and contrary to the article, the abc was not inundated with calls of complaint
when the show aired. they were inundated with calls only after the shock jocks
on the radio got all the moralists up in arms the following morning.
the chaser's war on everything. check the name of the show ... a war on
everything, including political correctness and boring sanitised humour.

it is so funny that people watch these kind of shows knowing that they can get
offended, yet still whine like a la la. so many cry babies who cannot take
shows like this for what it is; hilarious...
it happened to the glass house as well, and that was cancelled. hopefully the
chasers will not follow. stay strong abc fuck the cry babies.

why would having a go at emmett have been going too far? she was a talentless
hack - that posthumous album was shite, and never would have sold without the
sympathy factor. because she died, she somehow became imbued with talent? she
couldn't act, and certainly couldn't sing. then again, nor is her husband at
all funny...
how long has it been since she carked it? have to have been at least 6 months
wouldn't it? under south oz law, you can't defame the dead - but you have to
wait 6 months to avoid any liability.

all of this 'uproar' is a load of crap.
the abc received three, yes only 3 calls complaining about the show. the
millions of others were media outlets (tv shows, talkback radio) beating the
story up beyond belief because it must have been a really slow news day.
and another thing i don;t get is why did the talkback trash tv shows keep
replaying the song if it was sooo offensive to everyone ? idiots.
99% of the complaints after the fact were by people who hadn't even seen the
show or the song either.
