well it's about fucking time!!!!
i'm soooo glad that bryan fuller's show is getting the go ahead. this show
shows great potential, as all of his shows do. i have this theory:

wonderfalls was ahead of it's time (television was kind of dead at the time
when it came on. reality tv was dominating the mindless denziens of
televisionland, and mainstream audiences still didn't realize that they could
be sucked in to serialized, scripted tv. shows like lost, desperate
housewives, and their ilk were catching people off guard.)

dead like me well, showtime hadnot prooved itself to be the original series
juggernaught that it has become, hbo was still holding the reigns. if dead
like me were to come back now, it would generate a huge following, they could
take 2 yrs to get a new season written, air the first 2 seasons, and see a
ratings explosion.

he could literally have 4 shows active on television right now. heroes (writer
& co-producer), dead like me, wonderfalls, and pushing daisies.

the man is pure genius. now that a full 22 eps have been ordered, expect more
twists and new story arcs to develope. i had almost given up on new shows
altogether after the 3 eps and out format of last season. thank the heavens
for the impending writers strike.

i don't like the fairytale theme, but the overall concept behind the show is
great. i'll continue watching, and hopefully the fairytale bull won't put me off.

to be honest, it would be nice to see a season 2, but all i really care about
is a complete season.

as the studios start putting up bigger budgets for tv series, i can understand
them getting nervous for poor ratings and expecting higher ones. but, you
would think that if they're going to commit to a show, they would actually
commit.

i think more research & marketing is required from these studios. the recent
trend in "leaked" (yeah sure) pre-release episodes is definately a nod in the
right direction for them (movie studios have done test market screening to the
general public for many years). the television studios need to do much more
of it as well, they want so much to kill piracy of their shows, but the brass
tax of it is that without it television wouldn't be enjoying this upward swing
in viewership. it is no secret, they think it is, but it of course isn't,
that they are releasing these pre-releases, and in order for them to "be sure"
a show is going to be recieved well or not they must begin screening these
pilots to the people that will actually be spending 22hrs of their lives to
these shows (not the critics that are compensated for there good reviews).

whoa, boy did i jus go off on a tangent.....

anyway, the only way they are going to recoup their investments is to complete
seasons. if a show is bad, a show is bad, and putting it on the air means
that they obviously didn't do enough homework on whether or not it was good
enough. cancelling shows after 3 episodes because the ratings aren't that of
lost, am idol, or even desperate housewives, is a big mistake, because next
season people will be less likely to "take a chance" on a new program for fear
that it will just be cancelled after a few eps, and they'll never get to see
how it finishes.

back to pushing daisies, it's really nice to know that we'll get a full season
out of it. after dead like me being cancelled after a second season and never
really concluding, i think brian fuller has figured out a way to bring closure
to a season so that his audience and fans are left wondering what happened?????

i'm all finished rambling now, kids waking up from her nap.
as you were................
