simple if they could already employ a licence card which activates the
channels on freeview, however they can't do that until the analog antennas are
switched off. so until then, anyone that buys a tv, vcr, digital box,
anything with a tuning circuit in is expected to pay the fee. (shops selling
these items have to submit a monthly record for all items with a tuner in to
the licencing people so they can chase up whoever apparently owns a tv but
doesn't pay a licence, that's why they ask for your address when you buy a tv)

indeed; but my laptop doesn't even have a tuner. the idea is that "with not to
much effort" i could "steal" tv from the beeb. hmm.

i agree, great post. people lose sight of what they have on their own doorstep.

if auntie died, people would mourn all over. ( a bit cheesy but you get the
point)

ok. i get the point about the fee and having no tv. but no radio? no computer?
or have a puter and never go near any beeb website? come on! the beeb is about a
lot more than bbc 1, 2 et al.

here comes the cliche - "it's an institution", but cliche's are such for a
reason, and the beeb is an insitution, that any country around the world would
be proud to have.
